The Importance of This Museum

A Museum of Importance

The Mission of the Museum of African American Collectibles and History is to educate the public on African American history through the use of original collectibles, Black Americana and artifacts. The use of these items will help the public to gain a better understanding of  various aspects of African America history and understand how African Americans have evolved today.

A Museum of Change During A Time of Change in Our Country

It is important to understand all aspects of African American history in order to understand current events.  The galleries at the Museum of African American Collectibles and History will highlight  unsung periods of African American life and its historical significance, such as the Jim Crow and Reconstruction eras. The goal is to educate the public so that change can be made while not forgetting about the past.

A Museum with Community Ties

The Museum of African American Collectibles and History will be deep rooted in community engagement. We have included a Virginia Gallery which includes a Richmond exhibit.  We will encourage  diversity and inclusiveness all year round.  We want to ensure that we give back to the community to include local schools, organizations and universities. We will develop programs for the community with the communities input.

A Museum for the Future

In today's society, African Americans are continuously making history.  The Museum of African American Collectibles and History will embrace history as it unfolds.  We want to highlight present and future history makers of all ages for now and years to come.
